Visit the Betty Brinn Childrens Museum
The Betty Brinn Childrens Museum is located all the way at the end of Wisconsin Avenue just at the point where Wisconsin Avenue curves North. This place is built for kids, as the name implies, and it is a great place to let your little ones get hands on fun! The official address is: Betty Brinn Childrens Museum 929 East Wisconsin Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53202 (414) 390-KIDS Official Website (opens new window)
The museum is designed for hands-on play and interactive learning, which is WONDERFUL for parents who are tired of telling their kids to “don’t touch this” or “be careful with that”. It’s exhausting just trying to corral your kids at times, to the point where you barely get to enjoy whatever your doing yourself. I’m not a parent, but I do have two nieces who need to FEEL everything within their reach. So particularly for kids under the ages of about 8-10 years old, this place is too cool!! It’s education and fun and it’s designed for little kids to learn the way that they do best...by TOUCHING EVERYTHING! In addition to the great learning tools available for kids, the museum also provides good information on “early childhood brain development, learning styles, and effective parenting skills” as the website indicates, which makes it a great tool for parents and caretakers. And seriously, this place has something for infants on up! There’s a soft, infant/toddler focused play area, a make-believe community for children to learn how to shop and bank and complete other daily living types of activities, a video studio, an exhibit about human anatomy, music, dance, theater studios, and so much more, all designed to engage children in interactive learning, and teach them in ways that they learn best. The Betty Brinn Childrens Museum focuses on reaching children from birth through the age of 10. Tickets in 2009 were $6 for children and adults, and children under the age of 1 are free. Take your kids for a few hours, and enjoy the peace that comes from being in an environment where your kids have room to explore.
