Candy Cane Lane in Milwaukee
Candy Cane Lane in Milwaukee is a neighborhood of homes on the Southwest side of town that lights it up for Christmas every year!My sister-in-law's sister just purchased a home in this neighborhood, and believe me, when they did that, they signed on for a whole heaping load of holiday cheer...and then some! It would be difficult at best to reside in this neighborhood and try to play the 'Bah-Humbug' card...I'm pretty sure that no one would let you get away with it. :)
Candy Cane Lane in Milwaukee is up and running starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving through Christmas. There are over 300 homes that participate in this yearly event, decorating their homes for the droves of people walking and driving through the neighborhood.

The tour spans from 93rd to 96th Street, starting at Oklahoma Avenue and running a few blocks North. The area is designated by the trees that line the street which are all decorated as candy canes. There is no charge for the tour, however local residents do ask for donations as you drive by. In 2010, they were collecting money for the MACC fund (opens new window).
I love these kinds of activities...free of charge, and a small donation to a local charity thanks to the generosity of a few good people! :) This is a great yearly activity for the family, especially the younger kids who really enjoy all of the lights and decorations. People drive through the neighborhood like tourists equipped with cameras and taking videos of the scene. And who can blame them...some people get VERY creative with their yards! I definitely have to give credit to the folks who dedicate themselves to this every year. There are a lot of us who look forward to these traditions and thank you for providing it! But don't take my word for it...swing by one of these evenings...but do be prepared to take your time as you drive through...trust me, you won't be the only one there! :) Thank you for visiting! We hope the information on this site helps you enjoy our great city that much more!
