Milwaukee County Parks

I’ve always been proud of our Milwaukee County Parks system! We have an amazing parks system...it is something that we can be proud of and something that others can emulate.

There are so many different facets to our parks that there’s simply no way I will be able to give you information on everything that we have to offer. Hopefully, I’ll give you a good idea of what’s available, provide you with some information that you didn’t have previously, and give you some good ideas as to how to take advantage of this natural resource in your own backyard!

Everyone knows that there are numerous neighborhood parks located throughout the city. If you’re unsure as to which is the closest to your house, or your moving and want to see what’s available, refer to the master park list (opens new window) which can be found on the Milwaukee County Parks website. This list will give you the names of each park, along with the address, and in some cases a map of the park.

This is helpful info, but there’s so much more to the parks than this!

Here are some of the special features that I've found:

Jazz in the Park Milwaukee - A free summer concert series held downtown in Cathedral Square.

River Rhythms - Another free summer concert series held in Pere Marquette Park along the Milwaukee River.

Dog Friendly Parks - Lots of different places to take your best friend for both on-leash AND off-leash fun!

The snack shop at Bradford Beach is part of the Milwaukee County Parks system. Bradford Beach - Set along the shores of Lake Michigan, this park is maintained by Milwaukee County, and has come a LONG way from what it was years ago!

Milwaukee Water Parks - It may not compare to the Wisconsin Dells, but our water parks offer some pretty fine swimming fun if I do say so myself.

Mitchell Park Domes - A really nice place to visit in the winter for the concert series, or at night for the “light show”.

Oak Leaf Trail - The Oak Leaf Bike Trail is one of my favorite hang-outs most of the year! A fabulous biking, walking, skating trail that transports you to nature even in the middle of the city.

McKinley Marina - Visit the marina, fly a kite in Veterans Park, rent a paddle boat, picnic, fish...lots of options here!

Ice Skating - How about some winter fun? Did you know that our Milwaukee County parks have free ice skating venues throughout the city?

And of course there's places like Boerner Botanical Gardens and the Wehr Nature Center...so many parks and so little free time!

To be honest, I'm sure we haven't even scratched the surface on this one! If you've got some info you'd like to share, please Contact Us and share your thoughts. We'd love to hear what you have to say!

Thank you for visiting!
