The Milwaukee Public Museum -

If you haven't visited lately
you may be surprised at the changes.

Located on the corner of 8th and Wells Street, the Milwaukee Public Museum has actually come quite a ways in the last couple of years. For a while there, the museum hadn’t gone through many changes over the years, and there wasn’t always much in terms of new exhibits.

Within the last several years, however, the Milwaukee Museum has really made strides in bringing in some great exhibits. Two of the more recent exhibits that I purchased tickets for were Body Worlds and the Titanic exhibit.

I was quite impressed with the way in which both of these exhibits were laid out, and found the tickets to be well worth the money.

The official address is:

Milwaukee Public Museum
800 West Wells Street
Milwaukee, WI 53233
(414) 278-2728
Official Website (opens new window)

My recommendation to you would be to plan on attending one of the limited engagement exhibits. Tickets purchased for the limited engagement exhibits include general access to the rest of the museum as well. Not only will you get to tour the entire museum if you wish, but you’ll get to see the (usually more interesting) featured exhibit.

Am I being too blunt here? I was actually joking with a friend of mine who’s lived in Milwaukee her whole life as well. We were talking about how we both recently visited the museum after not having been since we were kids (you know, when you’d go for a 6th grade field trip or something??) We laughed and laughed about how some of the general exhibits hadn’t changed at all since we were kids, and maybe even required a bit of “dusting”!

Ok, ok, I’m being harsh here...like I said, the museum has made major changes in the last couple of years, and the limited engagement exhibits that are being shown are worth the visit.

If you do attend one of the limited engagement exhibits, make sure to purchase the audio tour, otherwise you’ll spend the majority of your time reading each of the descriptions of the items you’re interested in.

The audio tour allows you to enjoy the exhibit more thoroughly and makes the exhibits come alive in my opinion.
