The Pabst Mansion
is one of Milwaukee's Historic Mansions
The Pabst Mansion is a historic renaissance mansion built in the late 1800’s by Captain Frederick Pabst, “world famous beer baron” as the website indicates. You can go to the website yourself to read all of the details about the mansion along with the history behind it. I know for some people, the detailed history of a place is important - for me, I'm just fascinated by the grand nature of this museum as someone's home! Plainly put, however, the Pabst Mansion is a well-known Milwaukee landmark and one finely built house! If you like touring homes as much as I do, you’ll enjoy a tour of this mansion. It’s particularly exciting to take a tour during the Christmas holidays when the house is fully decorated, or during Halloween for a bit of a fright-fest tour. The mansion is located on the West side of Downtown Milwaukee, on the corner of 20th and Wisconsin Avenue at: Pabst Mansion 2000 West Wisconsin Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53233 (414) 931-0808 Official Website (opens new window)Tours are held daily between the hours of 10am – 4pm (except Sundays), and admission in 2009 was $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 and older, and free admission for the little ones. HOWEVER, if you purchase a 3-pack ticket to the Pabst, the Charles Allis Art Museum and the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, you can get that ticket for about $11 (2009 rates). This is actually quite a savings as admission to the Charles Allis Museum and the Villa Terrace Museum both individually go for $5. So if you purchased the tickets separately for all 3, you’d have to pay $18. $11 for entry to all 3 museums is well worth the price! Touring the mansion is something worthwhile during your visit to Milwaukee. If you’ve seen it once, you’ve probably seen it enough, but definitely worth the trip at least once. Enjoy!
