The Pabst Theater Milwaukee
One of the best theaters in the city!
The Pabst Theater Milwaukee is one of my favorite Milwaukee Theaters for attending concerts. The theater has this elegant, but cozy, sort of “renaissance” feel to it.
The surroundings and décor are beautiful, but you won’t feel out of place in jeans (depending on the event, of course). Elegant and casual all at the same time! No matter where my seats are, I always feel like I have a good view of the stage – although I definitely prefer the first floor to the balcony seats. And, because I’m not 23 years old anymore...I like a theater that I can sit down and enjoy the concert! Yeah, yeah…I know. I used to be one of the wild things hopping on the bleachers at the old Summerfest mainstage but those days are over friends! It’s time to kick back and enjoy the music instead of hopping through the isles! Now I am of the era in which I want to relax with a tasty beverage, listen to the music and enjoy an unobstructed view of the artist! I’ve attended shows like Tracy Chapman, the Indigo Girls and pianist David Lanz. I’ve also seen holiday shows such as A Christmas Carol and have enjoyed each and every performance at the Pabst. The Pabst Theater has 2 bar areas just outside the theater for mingling before the shows and during intermissions. Depending on the artist, you may be permitted to take your drinks into the theater with you. Really a lovely theater! Pabst Theater Milwaukee (opens new window) 144 East Wells Street Milwaukee, WI (414) 286-3663You can find detailed information on the website about the history of the Pabst Theater including the recent renovations in 2000, making the theater fully handicap accessible, and more comfortable overall. Important features for me were the increase in the amount of women’s bathroom space (praise God for that! Standing in those lines in the past was excruciating!) and more comfortable seating in the theater (they succeeded here as well...the seats are VERY comfortable!) The lounge on the East side of the theater was enclosed in full-glass windows, and it is a very elegant place to socialize during intermissions. The lounge is actually available for rentals! Tickets can be purchased on the website, which also contains a detailed calendar of upcoming events, OR directly from the Box Office, Monday – Friday, Noon – 6:30pm, and open starting 2 hours prior to any event. Enjoy your show at the Pabst!
