The Rosebud Cinema

I just visited the Rosebud Cinema in Wauwatosa for the very first time last night....oh what a fun little theater! Out of all of the Milwaukee movie theaters I've gone to, this is my new favorite!

I had heard from family and friends that this was a great place to see movies - good popcorn, a variety of food and drinks including beer, wine, burgers, fries and the like, and "love seats" for seating - but I had no idea how right they were!

The theater itself isn't very large, and has a cozy feel to it. There's a laid-back, relaxing atmosphere to the Rosebud Cinema that I don't get from the large, multi-plex movie theters.

There's only about 4-5 employees working the theater, making the food, and popping the popcorn - which is fresh (i.e. it was literally popped within a few minutes of making it's way to my bucket) and it comes with real butter!

I don't know about you, but for me...the movie is ALL about the popcorn, and this stuff was fantastic! Of course, there's free refills on the large size, and there's a spread of different flavored toppings for you to choose from (ranch, nacho cheese, etc.)

I also ordered a beer - Lakefront Maltese Falcon - a cheeseburger and cream cheese jalepeno poppers...yum!

But with all of this, I haven't even gotten to the best part....are you ready? Ok...here it is...this theater has LOVESEATS FOR SEATING! I'm serious! I thought when someone told me there were "loveseats" that they would be theater style loveseats...but no! They're REAL LOVESEATS! Check it out!

I could not believe the whole theater was filled with only loveseats! It was awesome, and if the lighting had been better, I would have taken a picture for you to see it yourselves.

My friends and I all commented on how comfortable these seats were! Some couches aren't that great to sit on for an extended amount of time, but these were fantastic! I'd be careful though...don't take a sleepy friend with you, or they'll be out for sure! :)

Now if you're the type of movie-goer who needs a ginormous screen with surround sound, this isn't the theater for you. But if you're like me and you prefer a place with good popcorn and a lot of character, the Rosebud Cinema is the place to be! And did I mention that all shows before 5pm are only $5?

Make sure you arrive 20-30 minutes before the show starts. That way you'll ensure you get the seat of your choice, and you'll have plenty of time to order any food and drinks you like.
